As a young girl growing up in New Orleans, I cannot remember life without snowballs. Snowball stands are located throughout the city and are frequented by locals and tourists alike. I remember taking family trips to the snowball stand on hot days, stepping up to the counter and ordering my favorite snowball. We hung out for a little while outside of the stand to “knock the top off” or eat the top part of the snowball that towered over the lip of the cup. This was done so the snowball was easier to transport.

As an adult I continued to enjoy snowballs and could not wait until snowball “season” began. Funny note about “seasons”. While all other parts of the country have winter, spring, summer and fall as seasons, New Orleanians celebrated Mardi Gras season, crawfish season, shrimp season, crab season and snowball season!

After leaving New Orleans, I still wanted a genuine snowball when summertime returned. I would immediately detour if I drove past a business advertising “snowballs” to see if they were authentic. Each trip left me very disappointed but it made me appreciate New Orleans snowballs more. When I went home to visit family in New Orleans, my first stop was always the snowball stand.

My quest for authentic snowballs continued for 10 years until two months of sleepless nights, TIVO, ebay and The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch changed my life. My husband and I decided to take the bull by the horns and start our own snowball business. We purchased the mobile unit equipped with everything needed to make snowballs. After spreading the word about these wonderful frozen delicacies, our business began. - Tanisha

Storefront

Pronounced “fler dey lee”, the business name and logo pay homage New Orleans and the symbol seen throughout the city. Fleur de Lis Flavors purchased Beauregard’s Gourmet Delights located in the Bellevue Center Mall January 2008. The union of storefront and mobile unit capabilities as well as consistent quality of goods and services makes Fleur de Lis Flavors the “go to” gourmet concession shop in Nashville.

With the pending demolition of the Bellevue Mall, Fleur de Lis Flavors decided to move the storefront operation to the Nashville Farmers’ Market (900 Rosa Parks Ave) next to the Bicentennial Mall in Downtown Nashville. Fleur de Lis Flavors is located in the Interior Market Hall (the inside restaurant building). Please visit the storefront section for more information and directions.
